Vinyl Vizslas!

I started an etsy shop to sell some of my Vizsla wares! There’s only a few things up so far, but the selections will expand! My current favorites are the little bitty Vizsla nail decals! They could also be used for card making, scrapbooking, or other crafty adventures, too. They are absolutely adorable

Pointers & Flushers & Retrievers — It’s not what you think

Posted in Retrievers on February 12, 2013 by Red Dawg Lady

Yep, there are sporting dogs called Pointers (English Pointers, German Shorthair Pointers, Vizslas, Brittany, etc) and sporting dogs called Flushers (English Cocker Spaniels, American Cocker Spaniels, Boykin Spaniels, etc), and of course everyone knows about Retrievers (Golden Retriever, Labradoor Retrievers, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, etc).

This category has nothing to do with any of them as a group.

I like to shop. Not really shop as much as spend money and make impulse purchases when it comes to my animals. Hey, I recognize it. I don’t consider it a problem, I consider it my patriotic duty to stimulate the economy. Besides, ya can’t take it with ya.

Anyways, sometimes my lack of self-control works out pretty good. We’re going to call those purchases the POINTERS. The ones that we’re going to call the FLUSHERS? Well, let’s just say that for whatever reason, I’m not feeling the love, and will tell you why. The RETRIEVERS are going to be the “I gotta get more more of that” products that came out of the POINTERS category! Your mileage may vary of course.

Any opinions I offer here are purely my own, and in no way represent any company, product, organization, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Pill Pockets. It’s like dog crack.

Pill Pockets

I resisted buying these for years. After all, who needs to buy a commercial product made to disguise pills when you have cheese slices and hot dogs? Yeah, well, I’ll tell you who…me!

I had a dog last year that needed to take 12 pills a day during a recovery period. Soon she stopped eating cheese. Then she boycotted hot dogs. Then even raw hamburger was snubbed because it might be covering a pill. Finally, I gave in and bought a package of Pill Pockets out of desperation.

Oh. My. God. My dogs will practically turn themselves inside out to get a taste of the pill pockets now! I haven’t found a single pill discarded on the living room carpet or heard that tell-tale “gack” sound as the hurl the pill up from the land of “nearly swallowed” since I’ve started using these.

I buy them by the case now. Seriously. With this many dogs, odds are pretty good that somebody is on an antibiotic for something. They have made pill time actually be entertaining instead of a source of stress.

Plato Salmon Strips, 16-Ounce

Mira Vizslas Suggested Reading – Plato Salmon, 16-Ounce.

Plato Salmon Strips

Yeah, Plato Salmon Strips are definitely in the Retrievers category. As are the Plato Natural Duck Strips. These are HUGE hits with the dogs, and can be broken into tiny little pieces that are perfect for training. The ingredient list is simple, too.

On a scale of 1 – 10, all of my dogs would place this a solid 9. (They hold a 10 rating back for things like baby bunnies and deer poop.)
